I feel like a lot of this reporting and writing has been very quick to buy into a lot of the narratives that have come from these companies. There's not enough skepticism, he says. He was interviewed for New York Times magazine in April but didn't like how interview went. I want reporters to see what they are doing first before making decisions on whether or not to cover an area as it relates to artificial intelligence.

Paris Marx is joined by Emily M. Bender to discuss what it means to say that ChatGPT is a “stochastic parrot,” why Elon Musk is calling to pause AI development, and how the tech industry uses language to trick us into buying its narratives about technology.
