The effects of this turnover, at least in our opinion, seem to be occurring before the turnover itself. Those longer lengths of stay could mean that care is less efficient because doctors keep patients in the hospital for longer. Either way, the cost ciated with the july effect could be large. But that's, unfortunately, not a simple calculation.
