Osman Furuki: What's happening with Olivia Rodrigo is like, obviously you have quote unquote indie or alternative sounds being homogenized into this accessible pop package. He says Disney locks in these directors who were kind of like indie artists like Kate Shorland and Chloe Jao to huge contracts where they can't make films for maybe two to four years because of the whole promotion and release cycle. And then what you have is that Disney has ties to all the people who maybe otherwise would be pushing counterculture. Osman furuki: I think it's a lot about where we are culturally and I think it sets a lot of dangerous precedents which like not to sound dramatic or whatever
