COVID-19 Infections in Healthcare Workers
The study included just over 1,000 healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 infected patients across 29 hospitals in four countries. Healthcare workers were randomly assigned to wear either medical masks or fit tested in 95 filtering phase piece respirators for 10 weeks. The authors concluded that they found surgical masks were not statistically less effective than the N95s but showed a general trend in N95s being superior to surgical masks at all sites except Egypt.
