The Difference Between Evolution and Human Knowledge Creation
All AI algorithms use conjecture refutation processes, says Alan Turing. But there are algorithms that do exactly the same as these conjecture refutation algorithms, but don't use it. This is because we can jump across the search space in startling ways no algorithm currently can. Even our best genetic algorithms do not solve that problem today. They're still so narrow. And in fact, we don't even know how they work. We understand things precisely through algorithms. That's one of the reasons why I don't expect we will someday have laws of physics that we don't define via math.
