There's a sense of just instrumentalising culture for your political aims. We thought all that had gone away with the degenerate art and the Nazis. Of course, it is totalitarian behaviour. With the move towards the right, governments are being very, very strategic about the way in which they interfere. They meddle in freedom of speech, in culture. And we're getting in our own government. I mean, forget about long arms. You know, the long arms are being cut off as governments stop museums removing sculptures of slave owners or making more kind of dialogue about murky pasts of donations.
