How Do You Bend a Saw?

The shape of the sheet, which allows the sort to ting, is an s like shape. There is a region in the interior where the curvature essentially goes to zero. That's what is called a sweet spot by the musicians and is also known as an inflection line. When you tap or bow the saw, you excite these normal modes. And that means that these motes are protected from losing energy through the boundary.
