The term body snatching was popularized in the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Stealing a corpse wasn't new, but usually the corpses were famous in life. The first recorded case goes all the way back to 13 19 in bologna, italy. Those who engaged in body snatching got the much cooler name resurrectionists or resurrection men.
