What's Going on in the Book of Exodus?
Rameses and pethom are likely to be locations where the hebrews were making bricks. The depiction of forced labor is a well known treatment given to prisoners of war. This was depicted both as nubian, black africans working side by side with samites. And then you have egyptians as the taskmasters, with sticks prodding them on in their work. So we do know that this was the treatment afforded to many prisoners ofwar.
