Tolkien and Father Christmas
Tolkien was scandalized by Lewis putting Father Christmas in there. He is writing for kids, of course, for children. I felt very strongly about this when we did it, didn't I? The difference was that Tolkien wrote it for himself. Whereas he specifically wrote the Narnia stories for the children.
