The danger with dictionary definitions is that it's just a funny kind of language. So looking up a word in the dictionary is often not very clear because the way it's presented. Now, there are some some dictionaries that are that are much better than that. They're typically the learner's dictionary. And those dictionaries are intended for people who are learning english as an additional language. The words that are used to describe that might even be harder than the word itself that you're trying to teach.
