Olivia Thompson was diagnosed with focal epilepsy. She underwent surgery to remove part of her brain that is thought to be responsible for the mechanisms of speech. Her son, who has a rare form of cancer, had similar surgery and survived. Olivia says she hopes people will consider donating to an assistance fund set up in her honor.
