The Rhetoric of Plantation Labor

In later explanations, right, historical accounts in the 20th century, even into the 21st, you see this idea that white people were incapable of doing this work. And what I really want this book to do more than anything else is to show that giving that as an explanation is just sort of taking these planters at their word. They didn't turn to enslaved African laborers because of their ability to work in the climate and because of white people's inability to working in the climate.
