The Importance of STEM-Level AI

Some argue that GPT-4 already has all the right mental machinery for STEM work. I disagree with this claim myself, and don't think comparing it to a human child is very illuminating. It's also not confident one way or the other about whether GPTs will scale to be as good at science as smart humans. A simple way of stating the argument in terms of STEM-level AGI is, his and argument in six parts.
