The History of Sufism in Afghanistan
Afghanistan was kind of the eastern edge of islamic lands. Islam had arrived there a few centuries earlier. The country had largely practised zorastrianism, hinduism and buddhism. But generations of moslem rulers had converted much, but not all, of afghanistan to islam. And a particular form of islam called sufism took hold there.
