Most of the material about Lampedo that exists is in Portuguese. There's not a whole lot in English. Northeastern Brazil is covered by Catchingas, which is basically a kind of vegetation mainly characterized by shrubs and tors. This is a dry semi-desertic area, often afflicted by drought. Wealthy ranchers owned most of the land; poor farmers leased it to them.
