The Deer Problem Versus the Shark Problem
Diseases like Lyme's disease and COVID can be transmitted to humans. The forests, when deer are around in the winter, don't have much of a chance. More people are killed by deer by far than by sharks. Most direct and straightforward way to remove deer from a neighbourhood where they are not actually thriving is to kill them.
