The only thing that i can do that's truly free is to will something just because it is good, for no other reason than that it is good. And that is self legislation. It's not as if i hav thee psychological pressures on myself to do good things, and then i assent to that. That's not what's going on here. I'm not assenting to moral demands in that case, in the way that i might assent to the demands of the state. I'm doing them just because they are good, not because they're required.
