How to Use Question Answering to Fill Human Information Needs
There are different reasons you might want to use question answering. One of them is to fill human information needs where like you have something like a search box that people naturally type questions into. Another thing I would also highlight just to add a little bit to that is that you can think of them also as an interface to end tasks, so like Omerlevi had a nice paper a few years back about doing relation extraction as question answering. And the idea is, rather than making an expert that wants to extract certain relationships, write regular expressions over dependency trees or whatever the state of the art might be,.
