Is There a Connection Between Life and Intelligence?
There are three possible answers to the question of whether AGI is inevitable. The first answer seems to be relevant here, it's mind-body dualism. My suspicion is that some form of intelligence, protocognition, really is necessary and essential for life. And this is what makes me skeptical that you could have genuine intelligence and not fake artificial intelligence in anything other than a living system.
