The Price of Certified Gas in the Emerging Market
Methane performance certificates or MPCs which are a Platts product are one way to monetize and prove management of methane and upstream natural gas production. Those were priced as high as five cents per MPC when the product first launched in 2021 through most of 2022 bids and offers were range bound in the two to three cents perMPC range. Over the past few months we have assessed the price of an MPC at around 1.5-2 cents per MMBTU for certified gas. We've also heard similarly a premium of around two to four cents per M MBTU for certify gas.
