Tolkien and Jung - The End of the World
The Lord of the Rings is an allegory for the Second World War by any means. Tolkien was far more shaped and influenced by the First World War than Jung. All but one of his closest friends was dead by 1918 by the time the war ended. The effect that that would have on his psyche and internal experience is just extraordinary.
