When I was writing Charlotte Gray in the middle 90s, there was not much in French to go on. The key book then was still Robert Paxton, an American who'd written a book called Rishi France and his bibliography is nonexistent. That was writing, that was writing 30 years afterwards. And I remember standing there once trying to get a feeling of what this block had been like at the time. They'd belatedly put a cattle truck and a few, about 10 yards of rail in with a small thing,. saying, that's, again, that was done in the 90s, into so nearly 50 years afterwards.
