The Son of Man
The region of Caesarea Philippi, 25 miles north about a two days walk from Jesus' hometown, was the bleeding edge of the pagan world. When Jesus came to the region he asked his disciples, who do people say the son of man is? It's a cryptic phrase that's used through the Old Testament and has more than one meeting. The point is if you're hearing Jesus in the first century or even if you're reading Jesus today we don't know exactly what he means.
