Con artists tend to be highly narci tic. But what carey finds more disconcerting about simon is his behaviour when he's challenged. Usually a con artist will disappear in a cloud of smoke at that point. What really struck me was the instrumental aggression that simon used whenever these girls confronted him. Suddenly, the romantic texts would be replaced with angry threats. Its clear threatening behavior designed to make them go away and stay silent. And i think this is how he's got away with it for so long.
