The Friendship of the Non-Lover
In 256 E, he describes what you get from the non-lover. So this common idea of virtue as simply not giving in the desire, repressing at all costs, that's not what's going on here. That's why I like this idea of both the push and the pull being necessary. It's not simply this exclusion of lust or physical desire. Well, it wouldn't be repressing, it would be sublimating.
