Is Critical Buddhism a Movement?

Critical buddhism is an intellectual movement that took place around the mid 19 eighties in primarily soto zen circles. They were both academics and ordained pre sts toke figures, haka maya, noriaki and matsu mato shiro. So they do take a critical approach, which i think is a product of the time too,.
