The Importance of Unanimity in the British Justice System
In Andy's case, two of the jurors did not think he was guilty. So we chucked out two votes on the jury in 1967. We decided that those two votes would not count anymore. If there were two people who thought someone was not guilty, that their votes would not be counted. The US has unanimity and abolished non-unanimous verdicts a few years ago.
