I know older women in my family who were married and became pregnant at the ages as young as 11 or 12, to men much older than them. If you ask any of them about it now, they honestly don't care and just say that their life was great. It wasn't like there was an epidemic of disordered behavior from these brides stemming from trama. Even arranged marriage could be considered gross and dis functional in the west, yet there is no mass mental health crisis caused by it in the rest of the world. How can it be said that the families of the bride and groom are all simply sick? The image of frightened little girls and their monstrous husbands just seems so exaggerated
