Is There a General Framework for a Fever of Probably Infectious Disease?
As an infectious disease doctor, I really like to have stories make sense. So that's the big sort of overarching thing. What's happening? Why is it happening and why now? And my approach to answering those questions, I use four questions. Number one: Who is the host? Number two: What are the notable exposures that this host might have had? Number three, what is the syndrome? And that's going to be what symptoms do they have? What's the crinicity? What other lab tests are associated with the syndrome? Then that last question that I always come back to is what doesn't fit?
