Sally Kohn: I wanted to be a scientist, but my freshman advisor said he wasn't sure that I could make it as a scientist. This was the year after Title IX had passed; you could legally discriminate against women in education. She says she eventually chose something which was not so much easier, but which would allow her to be fulfilled. "I like to think that and doing so I figured out how to make sure that maybe another generation of young black girls would not be kept out of the sciences"
