How to Avoid Copper Deficiency in Your Diet

The most reliable nutritional way to develop a copper deficiency is to take high doses of zinc. Zinc up-regulates a protein called metallothionine in our intestinal cells, which has a higher affinity for copper than it does for zinc. The best thing to do is to eat a diversity of foods that are rich in copper and not just rely on liver or oysters.
