As the premier of the soviet union, krustev is the most important politician in his country. He may even be the most influential government leader in the world. To keep the soviets on top, he has pushed the narrative that they have more nuclear weapons than the americans and their technology is superior. It allows them to project power around the world and increase their sphere of influence. Millions of lives could be at stake if Kruste doesn't figure out some kind of defence.
