If it's not a typo, it is a mistake or an intentional change. Either one of those options suggests that Severein has a lot of pride and hubris in his ability to move the narrative along. The alternate third possibility is he believed he remembered exactly what he wrote the first time and didn't remember it correctly. It could just be a possibility. People that this book is missing its epigraph because of the same kind of situation.
