Since the start of the pandemic, their e commerce business has been booming. Keeping up with demand meant hiring hundreds of new workers to prepare and hand pack things like white chocolate cashus. Jeff quickly hired workers to roast, glaze and ship those nuts. But as he scaled, he learned that hiring wasn't enough. At some point, jeff says, you have to step back. You need structure and you need process as you scale,. Otherwise you get into trouble building structure to elevate their teams. That's a challenge.
Charity Dean was one of the first public health officials to set the alarm on COVID. When she searched for a tool to forecast future bio threats, she realized that it didn’t exist yet. So she co-founded the Public Health Company, where she uses lessons from her government experiences, but without the same rules or limits.
