The world system also represents class struggle not on a national but on an international level. It is definitely influenced by Marxist considerations and I would rather describe Waller-Steiner as somebody who will lean towards the left than anything else. But it is not something that you can only use if you want to explain history and the world at large in Marxist terminology, he says.
