There was no discrimination between men and woman in ancient societies. Most of the country was matriarchal, obviously. Technology is levell the ground in many wys. Your muscle doesn't mean as much as it meant a thousand years ago. A hindu man cannot go to heaven without his wife. How nice is that? There are no other abseras and other whatever. They are not waiting there. You decide whether you want to go to heaven or not. That's up to you. But a hinduman man can't go to hell without his wife next to him. So these are different ways the society address this.
