The Slavery Metaphor That Driven the Movement to Liberty

Slavery was directly connected to the calls for liberty. Americans saw slavery firsthand, but you couldn't in England because there wasn't slavery in England. So this idea of liberty spreading out using slavery as the polar opposite is what they all said. There are two states. You're either free or you're enslaved. Those are the two states of humankind and we want to be free.
