Phrases That Don't Make Sense Without Their Prepositions

Many idiomatic phrasal verbs don't make sense without their prepositions. Looked up means research, but look just means point your eyes somewhere. Put off is a word that has multiple meanings depending on the way you use it. If I don't want to do my podcast recording today, I could put it off until tomorrow. But putting something off makes no sense at all. It's those choose and take combined into one phrase.
