Introduction
Laserdisc was a record-sized CD-looking disc. It was 12 inches in diameter and made up of two-sided aluminum discs layered in plastic. Unlike CDs and DVDs, the pits and falls on those things are essentially red as 1s and 0s. A Laserdisc has a thin layer of metal covered with microscopic bumps called pits and falls. The costs were high, but to me, it always seemed worth it to watch a movie like Luke Skywalker would have.
