The Verb to Be Is What They're Trying to Replace
We want to say, then it's not the verb to be, its words. Will just say words like selfish and so forth. So notice how you give us a question. But my experience is those questions when they are asked with a certain tone of voice, you know the person already has the answer to it. Means when they say, why did you do this? You know already the answer is, because you're selfish, ignorant, stupid, wrong, indifferent, incompetent, needy, lazy, domineering, uncaring, liar, sensitive.
