Ben Norton: In much of the global south, Russia is still very popular because of that anti-colonial history. He says Western powers by exaggerating Russia's influence in Niger are actually making Russia even more popular in the global south. Norton: The West would love to portray all of these anti-colonial movements as Putin puppets but they themselves have a long history of supporting coups around the world.
