The Angel of Death in the Old Testament

The term shahat is used to describe the angel of Yahweh in 2 Samuel 24, 16 and 17. The Lord relented from the calamity and said to the angel who was working destruction, said to the mosh, keet. David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between heaven and earth with a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem.
