A Judge Ruled That Abortion in Michigan Must Remain Legal, at Least for Now
A judge has ruled that abortion in michigan must remain legal, at least for now. The nearly century old law not only prohibits abortion, but makes it a felony punishable by up to four years in prison. Michigan's democratic governor, gretchen whitmer, saw the writing on the wall long before the leak of the supreme court decision to overturn rove wade back in april. Governor whitmer sued to stop the 19 31 abortion bend from being enforced. And friday's ruling is a wind for people seeking abortions throughout the midwest. As you can see here, illinois is the only state in the midwest that is likely to uphold the right to an abortion.
