There were no plants yet. God had not yet made water to, you know, soak up the earth. And there was no human to work the ground. Here it explicitly says before the plants came, because you need someone to till the ground to have plants grow. So Adam, Adam, which is, I guess there's a question whether that's a proper name at this point, or is it?
