The Importance of a Bipartisan Commission on Mandatory Spending
Two-thirds of the budget is mandatory spending, and we're facing $10 trillion in interest only over the next 10 years. I think a bipartisan commission to tackle up or down mandatory spending is critical, and I would support that. The late great Pete Peterson, Paul Songas, lost way too early, Sam Nunn of Georgia.
