The Challenge of Drilling Geothermal Whales in 600 Degrees Celsius Rock

With a continuous supply of 600 degrees Celsius molten salt, we could produce enough electricity to meet our energy needs for the next 10,000 years. President Kennedy knew that his May 1961 speech proposing a mission to the moon had been received by some scientists and engineers as the ramblings of a lunatic politician with no clue about the engineering challenges involved. So when I propose a hypothetical closed circuit molten salt circulation loop geothermal whale with laterals drilled through 600 degrees Celsius rock, I do so not because I'm so naive as to think that doing that is easy but precisely because I know how much is at stake if we can pull it off.
