The Death of a Democracy
The notion that you require some extraordinary people, Mahatma Gandhi like figures to govern the destinies of a nation is a dangerous delusion. A local leader who is accountable immediately to his people and depends on them for his power will have to deliver. He might be evil, it doesn't matter, he has to get the job done. And these are simple Akhodeki things which everyone gets and experiences. That's what I mean when I said democracy is not about the noble and romantic things, but simple and practical things which are collectively needed.
