Susan mary grant: Tockville saw a very clear distinction between the north and south, between the lands of freedom and the land of slavery. She says he was concerned that there wasn't this, this public virtue, that there was a kind of injura individualism in america. Grant: I think it's the people he spoke to more than the places that he went which may have had an influence on his thinking.
