Jonathan Safran Foer: We have these axioms that we're committed to, and very few of us are willing to make the sacrifice to actually make them coherent. Anything called slavery is evil throughout space and time. It doesn't matter. There's no like good slavery. He says if it's between slavery and the Bible, the Bible has to go. But other people are not as comfortable with this; they don't want to disassociate themselves from their past.
